First Home Goodbyes

In the next few days we officially say goodbye to our first home and although its been four years since we’ve actually lived there...the goodbye is bitter sweet. Let me tell you a little story...

In summer of 2007 we moved into our first house. I was about to pop with our first baby and we were SO ready to start our family in this new space. Baby came a couple weeks after our move and we were thrilled!

Over 40 weeks prego, getting the new house ready AND ready to pop!!!

2008 - Our home value had nearly decreased by MORE than half! We were disappointed to say the least and completely resigned to staying in this home for a VERY long time. There would be no way to sell our home in order to buy a new one for years. We felt the housing crisis along with MANY others. However, we still lovee our home and were thankful for this privileged gift.

2010 - We brought home baby #2 and our first pet...cause those mesh REALLY well together at the same time!

In 2011 - we slowly crept into a fostering and adoption journey.

2013 - We welcomed our first foster son to our home! AND quickly realized we would love more space to grow our family but our home had not gained enough value to sell.

2014 - brought much need for change and we stepped out in faith to find renters for our current home AND a new home we could grow into. It wasn’t an investment goal, but more importantly remaining faithful to the loan we promised to pay. The Lord brought us renters AND a beautiful “new” home within weeks of each other. Our renters became our friends and made their own memories in our home. Thats the Lord.

2018 - A few weeks ago it came time for more change. The renters needed to downsize and we could actually sell without bringing any money to escrow!! Praise the Lord, both of our circumstances collided together at the same time. Thats the Lord.

This last month at a glance...the Lord moved in mighty ways!!!

Feb 19th: We told the renters we needed to sell.
Feb 22nd: Three days later, our renters found another home that will fit their needs better.
Feb 28th: I spoke in person to our renters and they share dtheir need to downsize and find something more affordable. No hard feelings but all thankfulness for the push to make this change. Thats the Lord.
March 1: With the help of our wonderful realtor Sharon Tuck, our home is placed on the market and we say goodbye to our old rooms! (If you need a great realtor, click on Sharon's name above)

March 4th: We receive MORE than full price, ALL cash, 10 day escrow offer. No waiting through a long escrow wondering if all will be approved. Thats the Lord.
March 5th: We tell the renters the remaining items need to be out by the the 7th. 15 minutes later their movers call saying their scheduled opened up; they can be there that night. Thats the Lord.
March 9th: There is a neighborhood dump day. Any items from the home that need to be discarded can be brought to the street. This means no trips to the dump or unnecessary cleanup. Thats the Lord.
March 14th: We've clocked 15 plus hours of work at the rental house in less than 7 days. Lord willing, we should close on the house March 14th. Its been a crazy whirl wind month but its, so, so good. 10 years ago when the housing market crashed, we never thought this would be possible. The Lord did the impossible.

Thank you everyone for your prayers through this time! This week we say goodbuy to our first home. BUT we will forever, hold and cherish the memories and we're pretty crazy excited about it all!!! AND if you're waiting for Him to move a mountain too, may you feel His peace during the journey and continue making memories a long the way!
